In the late 1960's two naval architects (David Freeman and Gordon Wyatt) were searching the UK for a GRP motor sailer; a boat like that of the Scandinavian designs which did both sailing and motoring properly and were frustrated that nothing matched their (fairly exacting) standards. Built for C Thomas Clagett Jr, an American businessman in 1976, this 72' ketch has had a fascinating history! Built at Derecktor Shipyard (known as America's most accomplished boatbuilder), her early life was spent around Florida and the Bahamas where having a centreboard made cruising that area accessible for a large yacht.
