PANDORA was built to a design by Johan Anker to the newly created ‘metre rule’ set in London in 1906. She is most likely the first yacht built to the rule at the Anker & Jensen yard in Norway of which eight 9 Metre R boat were built before the Great War. Scott Hansen from Oslo was one of her original owners keeping PANDORA until the 1930s when Thomas Schlytter bought her, he also kept her for many years. MITI was built in 1949 by Chris Craft, USA to their 18ft Riviera design and shipped to Italy where in the 1950s it is believed to have been used by film star Sophia Loren when owned by her husband Carlo Pont.
The Rivera model was available in 16ft, 18ft and 20ft sizes and was a iconic runabout during the 1950s with an estimated 1,210 produced by Chris Craft overall from 1949 to 1954.
